YOUR RESPONSIBILITY

SKILLS ASSESSMENT

You should not pay for a skills assessment online unless you are sure that you have read and understood the requirements of the application process and are confident that you have submitted a completed application in this regard.  Common omissions are failure to provide evidence of a current pass in an English proficiency test to the standard required by the AVBC and failure to provide evidence of your current registration as a veterinarian with an Australian State or Territory.

If you are not eligible for an exemption from the English requirements you must provide evidence that you have achieved a score of band 7 in each section of the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) academic test or that you have passed each section of the Occupational English Test (OET) at one sitting with a B pass or higher.  The result must have been achieved within the last two years.

Evidence of your current registration with an Australian veterinary registration board is required.

The requirements of the Skills Assessment application process are detailed on this website and on the application form itself.  Please make sure you are familiar with them.  If you pay for a Skills Assessment and you are found to be ineligible to have applied, the application fee will not be refunded.

NATIONAL VETERINARY EXAMINATION (NVE) – ELIGIBILITY ASSESSMENT

If you are not eligible for an exemption from the English requirements you must provide evidence that you have achieved a score of band 7 in each section of the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) academic test or that you have passed each section of the Occupational English Test (OET) at one sitting with a B pass or higher.  The result must have been achieved within the last two years.

NVE EXAMINATIONS : PRELIMINARY EXAMINATION (MCQ) & FINAL (CLINICAL) EXAMINATION – WITHDRAWAL FEES

Once you have applied to AVBC and been accepted for a particular examination session, withdrawal from the examination session will result in a cancellation fee.

For the Preliminary Examination, if notice of the withdrawal is received at least four weeks prior to the examination, a cancellation fee of $AUD760 will apply and this well be deducted from the amount of examination fee to be refunded.  The examination fee will be forfeited altogether if the withdrawal is made less than four weeks prior to the examination, unless a medical certificate is provided in which case the $AUD760 cancellation fee will apply.

For the Final Examination, withdrawal more than 8 weeks before the examination will result in a cancellation fee of $AUD1,900.  Withdrawal less than 8 weeks before the examination will result in the total fee being forfeited.
