The AVBC has recently announced an upcoming adjustment in migration skills assessment fees, set to take effect on 1 January 2024.
A skills assessment is an evidence-based assessment of skills, qualifications and employment history. The assessment ensures that applicants have skills comparable to Australian standards. For veterinarians migrating to Australia under a points-tested skilled migration category, AVBC is the only specified assessing authority for the occupation “Veterinarian” (ANZSCO Code 234711) under the Migration Regulations 1994.
You can apply for a Skills Assessment with AVBC if you:
- Have a veterinary qualification on the list of qualifications generally recognised by AVBC
- Hold FULL registration (without conditions) with an Australian Veterinary Registration Board
- Meet AVBC’s English Language Standards
Migration Skills Assessment Fees for 2024
Due to increasing costs and complexity in assessments, AVBC has adjusted its skills assessment fees. All initial skills assessments will now cost $495 (+/- GST). If currently residing in Australia, GST will apply.

Priority Processing of applications will not be available between Monday 18th December 2023 – 10th January 2024 inclusive.
