AVBC hosted the Sustainable Practice Forum on 1 & 2 December 2022. It addressed issues including new graduate transition to practice & CPD.
At AVBC’s November 2022 Council meeting, AVBC agreed that it would be willing to consider accepting a role as an independent national body representing veterinary nurses and technicians for the purpose of registration. Council also agreed to consult with the Australian Veterinary Nurse and Technician Registration Scheme (AVNAT) regarding the progression of the registration of veterinary nurses and technicians.
At AVBC’s November 2022 Council meeting, all members agreed to define an “impaired” veterinary practitioner to encourage harmonisation across multiple jurisdictions and help regulators consistently approach health issues.
AVBC is looking for an Operations Manager to support the Finance, Audit and Risk Management Committee, routine and strategic finance/business management, human resources, policy and technology.
Priority processing of skills assessments has been temporarily suspended due to unprecedented demand.
The next available sitting of the Preliminary (MCQ) Examination will be on Friday 21 April 2023. The AVE Final (Clinical) Examinations are scheduled for 21-25 November 2022 and 5-9 December 2022.
The University of New England (UNE) is inviting applications for a PhD project supported by the NSW Veterinary Practitioners Board and endorsed by the AVBC on “The Epidemiology of Complaints about Veterinary Practitioner”.
The AVBC signed a mutual recognition agreement with the Veterinary Council of Ireland on 28 July 2022, formalising the current arrangements allowing veterinarians qualifying in Australasia and Ireland to move freely between each other’s jurisdictions.
The AVBC is now inviting comment on the first draft of the new AVBC Accreditation Standards and the Accreditation Methodology.
The next available sitting of the Preliminary (MCQ) Examination will be on Friday 21 April 2023. The AVE Final (Clinical) Examinations are scheduled for 21-25 November 2022 and 5-9 December 2022. Expressions of interest in these sessions will be sought from eligible clinical candidates in due course.
