The AVBC would not be able to operate without the constant dedication of its Council member representatives, standing committee members, veterinary board members, registrars, and everyone in-between. Since 2018 AVBC has recognised this support through the annual AVBC awards, which took place last year on 18th November 2021.
The AVBC has again been been working closely with the Australian Veterinary Association (AVA) and Veterinary Schools of Australia and New Zealand (VSANZ) to monitor the impacts of the COVID pandemic on veterinary education.
On November 4, The Australian Council of Professions (ACoP) signed the Professional Bodies Climate Action Charter as a Supporter after a unanimous vote from its board which represents member organisations including the AVBC and the AVA.

Members of the Australian Veterinary Association (AVA) and Australasian Veterinary Boards Council (AVBC) are calling on the Australian Government to assist Afghan veterinarians, veterinary paraprofessionals and their families in leaving Afghanistan and resettling in Australia.
Dr Zoe Lenard was appointed as Chair of AVBC’s Sustainable Practice Committee by Council last week. The SPC was created as part of AVBC’s commitment to supporting boards and working with the associations and educators to deliver a fit-for-purpose veterinary profession.
AVBC has kick-started the work of the Sustainable Practice Committee by signing the RCVS-AVMA Mind Matters International joint statement.
Priority processing of skills assessments has been temporarily suspended due to unprecedented demand.
On 8 May 2021, Minister Alex Hawke announced that the occupation of Veterinarian (234711) has been added to the Priority Migration Skilled Occupation List (PMSOL) and will be given priority processing for employer-sponsored nominations and visa applications.
