All veterinary specialists registered with an Australian veterinary board may now apply for Skills Assessment for the purpose of migration with AVBC even if they obtained their primary veterinary qualifications overseas.

AVBC’s Australasian Veterinary Examination Committee confirmed the record number of 43 successful AVE candidates in 2022 – doubling the previous record of 21 in 2021.

The next sitting of the Preliminary (MCQ) Examination will be on Friday 21 April 2023. AVE Final (Clinical) Examinations are scheduled for 29 May – 2 June 2023 and 3 July – 7 July 2023.

AVBC hosted the Sustainable Practice Forum on 1 & 2 December 2022. It addressed issues including new graduate transition to practice & CPD.

At AVBC’s November 2022 Council meeting, AVBC agreed that it would be willing to consider accepting a role as an independent national body representing veterinary nurses and technicians for the purpose of registration. Council also agreed to consult with the Australian Veterinary Nurse and Technician Registration Scheme (AVNAT) regarding the progression of the registration of veterinary nurses and technicians.
